Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football with volunteering for the community. First of all, he was raised by Lucious and Jessie Selmon, on the farm close to Eufala within Oklahoma as the youngest of their nine children. Two football. He was one of the three brothers that played for Oklahoma. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the United States by Outland and Lombardi Awards. He was awarded two championships as well as 31-1-1 during his three years as Oklahoma's starter. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in 1975. Selmon earned a degree in Education. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering in his college days. After graduation Lee Roy relocating to Tampa and spent the next 9 years with the Buccaneers. Three times he was named an All-Pro. Lee Roy began his professional career. In 1988, he began working as an Account Relation Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that the year 1982 was when the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the 10 young stars across the country. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs when he was a student athlete. He was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993, he was a part of his current position at University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. The College Football Hall of Fame named his as a member in the year the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
