Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946 to a poor family with 12 kids eventually included, discovered early that she could escape her hardships through a vivid imagination. Before she learned to write or read, she had already composed the songs she wrote herself. At the age of 8, she got her first electric guitar. She started singing at a Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. In the same year, she recorded her debut recording for Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. While she was at school, she already made a name of herself in the local music scene. However, her goal was to to play on a bigger size. In the exact day that she was able to graduate from high school, in 1964. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female vocalist to join his syndicated show at this point. Parton was hired in 1967 and signed by RCA Records by 1968, she joined the Grand Ole Opry. The show ended in 1974 as her solo releases such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were out-charting their collaborations. Parton composed I Will Always Love You in honor of Wagoner in the aftermath of their breakup. It reached number one. #1 for the first time since 1974.
