Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. [7][8] Born and raised in the outskirts of Barcelona The singer is described as an "atypical pop singer" due to her diverse musical styles. In the wake of being fascinated by Spanish folk music as a child of thirteen, she studied musicology at the Catalonia College of Music while also performing in musical bars and weddings.She completed her studies with distinction, thanks to the cover album she recorded with Raul Refree, Los Angeles (2017) as well as the Baccalaureate project El Mal Querer (2018). Blending flamenco and hip hop and pop The album resulted in "Malamente" (single) and "Pienso in tu Mira (single). Both singles have been hugely successful and were praised by critics across the world. El Mal Querer, who received the Latin Grammy Award as Album of the Year, and was included in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time, started Rosalia's rise into the world of music. Rosalia is a musician who explored urban music in her 2019 releases "Con Altura", and "Yo x Ti Tu x Mi", had global success. With her third studio album Motomami (2022) she gave reggaeton a unique twist, departing slightly from the flamenco sound of the first. The album featured singles "La Fama"" and "Saoko" the album received a worldwide acclaim and was named the top-rated album of the year by Metacritic. Rosalia has scored ten top-ten singles in her career, all in her native country. It's the highest number for an artist hailing from the region. The singer has also received two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the year awards) as well as four MTV Video Music Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, three UK Music Video Awards and two Premio Ruido awards, among others. Billboard presented her with the Rising Star Award, in 2019 for "changing the style of popular songs by introducing her unique flamenco-infused pop". [18] She also became the first Spanish-singing group to be nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys.
Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. She is the youngest of four children of Pilar Tobella, an entrepreneur who owns a tiny metalworking business. Jose Manuel Vila was her father. He was born in Cudillero (Asturias). They parted in 2019. [23] Her older sister, Pilar Vila ("born 1989") is her stylist and creative brain. Rosalia expressed interest in the performing arts at an early age, particularly following her discovery of the discography of Camaron de la Isla. She began her music education in the Taller de Musics [es]. She attended a six year program in the academy. She was a student at the Raval School, and later transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. In addition, she worked as an independent singer at weddings and in bars with musical music where she was paid "a barely over 80 euros or for dinner". Rosalia was capable of meeting many underground Spanish artists during that period, including La Zowi and Yung Beef, Kaydy Case, Hinds Maria Escarmiento, Kaydy Cain.
